Keep Your Skin Moisturized and Glowing

Winter is no fun for skin. Although there are many things about the Fall that I absolutely LOVE, my skin definitely begs to differ.  The cool and crisp temperatures certainly make it easy to sleep at night, but they also tend to turn my skin into a dry and flakey mess!

This post have some fabulous tips on how to keep your skin looking radiant, even throughout all of the unpredictable weather changes that the seasons bring about.

Keeping Your Skin Moisturized and Glowing

A fresh complexion is something that every woman strives to achieve. When your skin looks good, you feel good. One of the keys to achieving a healthy glow is moisturizing. Dry skin often looks lifeless and lackluster, however, with the cold weather of fall and winter fast approaching, and the general, everyday exposure to products that dry your skin out, it can be quite difficult to keep moisturized.

Fortunately, with a little bit of care, and by using these simple tips and tricks, you can keep your skin looking young, radiant, and moisturized.

Avoid Hot Water

While a hot shower may be soothing for your muscles, it wreaks havoc on your skin. Hot water zaps all of that natural moisture, leaving your skin super dry. Have you ever noticed how tight your skin feels when you get out of a hot shower? Yep, that’s because the hot water is drying it out. Instead, take a shower in temperate water. If you simply must use hot water to warm yourself up, only stand under it for a few minutes and then use temperate water for the rest of your shower.

Lotion, Lotion, Lotion

It can’t be said enough: use lotion – on all parts of your skin. Use a special face moisturizing lotion on your face and a different lotion on your body. Take your skin type into consideration when selecting lotions. If you have oily skin, look for those that are specially formulated to help with that. Also, while those fragrant lotions may have delightful scents, avoid using them. Believe it or not, scented lotions can actually dry your skin out. Go with unscented varieties and use body spray or perfume.

Drink Plenty of Water

Hydrated skin starts from the inside, which means you’re going to want to stay well hydrated yourself. Try to drink as much water as you can every day. The more water you drink, the more moisturized your skin will remain.

Apply Sun Screen

You already know that you should be wearing sun screen during the summer months to protect you from the harmful rays of the sun, but did you know that you should be wearing it during the winter months, too? Even though the sun may not feel as strong in the winter, it can still do damage to your skin, including drying it out. So, make sure you use a moisturizer and lotion with an SPF all year long.

Wash Up

Believe it or not, leaving makeup on your skin too long not only clogs your pores, it also dries out your skin. Why? Because makeup contains different additives that can dry the skin out and leaving it on too long can really have a detrimental effect. So, when you are done with your day and in for the night, or right before bed, make sure you thoroughly wash your face. Use a face wash that works for your skin type. When you are finished washing, make sure you completely rinse and then pat it dry.
